As of Allocations Day in March 2014:

70 Bucks resident qualifiers
46 Windsor & Maidenhead
4 Oxfordshire

58% IC, 42% OOC.
Thanks Sally Anne. Has this ratio changed significantly for 2015 allocation? This is to get an idea of the jump(from 6miles to 20miles?) in OOC allocation for SWBGS.
Is this information published somewhere?

Please can someone explain: does this mean that both AHS and SHF are full now? So, if going to appeal, if we win part 1 and 2, what are the chances on oversubscription? We live close to both and have a sibling at one.

We are in the same situation as you ... we have a sibling at one, in catchment; both schools have taken in over PAN in the past but you just never know. Got to get through Part 1 and 2 first!

With the first allocation offers it shows the schools are classed as full, however there is always movement and not all offers are taken up. Just a waiting game. Typical that this year SHF has gone out to distance, where in the past they have had spaces, good for the school but not so good for our appeals :(

You will need to put together a good argument for your dc to push the school over pan, the school will put together the counter argument.

I know it seems crazy, but when preparing your appeal paperwork you will need to put a different head on to write this section, assuming that your dc has passed but not been allocated their choice of school. So no ifs or may be, but lots of strong reasons why is is of far more importance your child gets a place than it would be detrimental to the school to accommodate bother pupil.

Be warned, they dismiss sibling as a trivial thing, they have to really as otherwise they would admit the whole grammar/upper thing is not in a family groups best interest.
They also have to concede that an upper school education is suitable for all children, otherwise they would be arguing against the local school bus transport policy.

Good luck, keep laughing not crying!

Where can we access the PAN and actual numbers for the GS's - to see who has gone over PAN in the past?

Thanks for any info!!

I think Sally Anne has the info collated, but the school will provide you with the info as its case against accepting over pan, it has to do this ten days prior to the appeal.

Booklady you can! It's online I can remember looking at it last yr (info went back a good few years) - it gives numbers in each year group at each school

You make two very good points there, SB3. Why do Bucks schools even bother with the whole "sibling" thing when the system is prone to tearing apart family units? It makes sense in the rest of the country / non selective areas where a sibling attending a school is an important issue but here only highlights the fact that siblings often cannot attend the same school.

Same with the transport issue, and isn't that the official line of BCC in only paying for a child to travel to their nearest school, even if they have qualified for grammar?

Yep, because "it is generally considered that an upper school is able to provide an adequate education for a grammar qualified pupil".

And that's not the only issue. Our nearest school is Highcrest. From what I can see, it doesn't matter that your banding test result means you would not have been allocated this school. Because it's the nearest school, no school transport.

And don't start me on Free schools and their effect on free transport
