DCHS Wait list

My DD has been accepted to go onto the waiting list for DCHS as she passed the Bucks exam. We live OA 9.1 and we thought she would never get a place so applied for CG instead. She always preferred DCHS but I thought she would have no chance. We also mucked up on our preferences but that's another story.....
We have been told to wait until 29th April for their next round of allocations . Can anyone help from past experience and do you think my DD has a chance for admission to DCHS in the second round of allocations ? I can see from the stats they went OA 9.975 this year but I'm not sure whether many people will give up places.
Does anyone know how many places the waiting list can move , last years waiting list movement would be of interest as another class was added.
Thanks very much

You can see the past movement here - it's usually at least a mile. https://www.dropbox.com/s/4secvz8qh4bhi ... .xlsx?dl=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The huge leap in the distance last year was because an extra class was added between the first and second rounds. This year it was added before 1st March, so that pattern won't be repeated.

Thank you Sally-Anne for your reply !

So as we are OA 9.1miles is there any chance for my DD this year ? We are within the distance allocated this year . Will she be quite high on the waiting list as they don't need to go a further distance for her ? I understand you won't have all the answers but ....

Just looking for a glimmer of hope ...

No promises, but it could well be OK.

I assume that your application was deemed "late" because of the preferences problem, and was therefore not considered in the first round? She should be quite high on the list unless there are any other, closer late applications or very recent testers.

Just looking at historic figures provided by Sally-Anne...which is amazingly helpful btw.

We are shooting for 2017 entry for DCHS (which looks like a great school) but we are OA 9.4miles straight line. So all depends on the profile of applicants for next year as to whether we have a chance. (not to mention DD's performance).

But wanted to understand from those familiar with the school and the Bucks Grammars as to why (in 2015) the OA distance moved so much from March at 3.748m (to April at 8.142m) and whether people think this is likely to happen again. Also the trend seems to be that that the OA's distance is increasing over time. See below the trends by year.

March16: OA to 9.975

April15: OA to 8.142
March15: OA to 3.748

May14: IA to 7.941
March14: IA to 5.971

April13: IA to 7.593
March13: IA to 6.49

Any insights as to why this is happening? This will help us decide whether we use up a CAF place for DCHS

Thanks in advance!

The school increased its PAN - we can't be sure that will happen again as the site has had no additional buildings.

This change is purely to get additional income from the increased number of students!

Hi Sally-Anne
Is there any way I can find out what number on the wait list my DD is for DCHS? Or do I have to wait for the letter on the 29th April?

I'm afraid you have to sit it out until 29th April unless you have very compelling reasons for needing to know the chances of her getting a place.

Does anyone know how we get contacted by Bucks today for the second allocation round ? Letter , email ? Or is a letter posted out today which we receive tomorrow ?
No revised distances on their website yet ....
Also does your borough, in my case Harrow get informed first about the decision ?

Thanks !
