I think it is to see if they would pass or not but I am not sure. If you pass the 11+ for a different county but fail the one for Bucks, can you us the result of the other test in an appeal case?

No, you can't use other tests. You need to use academic evidence for an appeal.
Even students already in GS have to be re-tested if the family move and want them to attend a Bucks GS instead.

Oh well in that case I don't know what the benefit is
Re: Out of catchment Transfer Test sitters
Even if they wouldn't be able to use a pass elsewhere as 'evidence of academic ability' at appeal, it doesn't mean that they aren't doing it for that reason, if only amongst others.K76 wrote:Oh well in that case I don't know what the benefit is
BTW, an even surer-fire failure at appeal would be to say that your child must deserve a grammar place, because your tutor has always told you that .
Or even mentioning the word 'deserve' at all, for that matter.

Re: Out of catchment Transfer Test sitters
Off topic as we're nowhere near Bucks: We used the Kent test as supplementary evidence for an independent school. Ds was in the middle of a very high performing class (most of whom got super-selective places), so his school report was unimpressive, but he scored very highly in the Kent test so we passed on that score. This was the main reason for us sitting the Kent test - we got scores before the independent school applications had to be in.
