CEM and GL papers
Can someone please explain this as I'm bit confused. Bucks has recently changed English papers to CEM (which is good for those appearing for SW herts too) but maths paper remains different ie GL and CEM. Anyone knows why and whats the key difference between CEM and GL ? Many thanks!
Re: CEM and GL papers
Bucks state transfer test has two mixed papers which are both CEM style.
This means they mix and match the topics (you could do a 10 min maths section immediately followed by a 5 minute Antonyms section.) effectively the kids have to think on their feet. Each short section is then stop-and-wait, then everyone starts the next short section together. There is a CD that reads this out to ensure there's no toming variation. Between the two approx 45 min papers there is a loo/drink/snack break.
The GL and CEM tests also varying what sorts of questions come up: GL is more standard and CEM very secretive. If you're DIy-ing preparation make sure any books you use have "for CEM" in the title/cover. But apparently they varybin what they ask more than the opd GL style. The major thing is timing: some sections are almost impossible to complete, so speed and accuracy is needed to get the best score.

Re: CEM and GL papers
Bucks changed in 2013 from GL VR to CEM (50% Verbal, 30% Maths, 20% NVR) so not tgat recent this'll be the 4th year!
