Hi there

Hope no one minds my asking but if anyone can give me any info regarding Beaconsifeld High school and Wycombe High School I'd be really greatful for PM's, which I think would be the most appropriate way.

Both are in our catchment and having seen both we are now undecided. They both have excellent facilities and great results etc but I guess I am really looking for anyones personal insight into both schools. We were particularly imporessed with the Head at BHS who came across as very approchable and caring for her students

I would welcome any comments positive or negative

Thansk

Mel

Hi Mel
Having boys I can't offer any insight into the girls schools but just to say that the head at Wycombe High is changing ( I think at christmas).

Hi Mel

My daughter started at Wycombe High in September and absolutely loves it. She settled in really well and they didn't get any homework for the first 2 weeks, this has given the girls a chance to make new friends and get used to the school without any homework pressures. I know I don't have much to go on as she has only just started, but so far so good. she also has a couple of friends at Beaconsfield High who also love it.

I think you are in an enviable position if you can get into either school. Beaconsfield seems to be the more difficult to get into, are you close enough to get a place?

And yes the current head at WHS is leaving at the end of this term and a new one starting, I have met her and she seems very nice.

If you want to know anything specific send me a message and I will answer as best I can.

Hi Mel,

Although I do not have direct experience of the schools, I do know lots of girls who are at Beaconsfield High. Girls who have started in Y7 all seem to have settled in well and seem very happy. Neighbours daugher enjoys art and loves the textile classes - they too have had a break from homework while they settled in. She got through on appeal last year and is not ultra-academic but is enjoying every moment of it.

Parents around here who went to look at it thought it needed some TLC.

We have a boy so looked round Beaconsfield Secondary School, my son really liked it and said if we had shown him round it before the 11+ he wouldn't have tried so hard in his exam as he would like to go there! The headmaster was certainly inspirational and I thought his talk was the best of all of them. I hope he hangs around for a few years as I can imagine other schools might be keen to entice him away. He told the parents they were welcome to visit the school at any time - what a contrast to the catchment grammars!
