Assessment for sitting 11+ next year

I would like my son (currently in Year 5) to sit the Bucks 11+ next year but wondered if anyone had any advice as to how I could assess him now to see if he is up to it?

Dear Melw

Is your son in top sets for Maths and English, what are his latest SAT scores?

Have you asked his school for their opinion?

Hi Patricia

He goes to an independent school which does not do SATS! They have just been put in two sets for Maths and he is in the second set, however the text book he is using is for Key Stage 3. I am not sure about english -I think he is just above the class average.

Dear Melw

I do not believe in assessing by giving a child a test, blindly

I would therefore teach your self the method and techniques, so you can teach your child.

Teach your child only the techniques for the test you wish to administer and see how they perform

IPS have a method and technique book with 3 tests at the end, 50 questions in 30 minutes, not too long for first attempts.
