Think it would be tough luck.

There is a familiarisation session 2 weeks prior to the "real" test (which is not compulsory but which is "strongly recommended" because it follows exactly the same format - ie VR (1hr), 80 questions, followed by maths (50 mins), 50 questions, followed by break and snack, followed by 45 mins of English (2 pieces of work)). The children are allocated a room number, and take the familiarisation and real test in the same place.

We went through the familiarisation 2 weeks before the real test and were told that it would not be marked. I suspect that it is reviewed if a child is subsequently ill or unable to take the test for other reasons.

The test used to be taken at schools throughout the UK, as well as Colyton itself, (there is no catchment - it is superselective) but this has changed and children can only sit the exam at the school itself on the prescribed date.

Good luck to everyone waiting until March for Colyton - my son is now in year 9 and it has just flown by. :D
