Just saw this forum and will re-post my question....

.... My daughter has spent three of her primary school years in Swiss state schools and we are moving back to Torbay this summer and urgently need to catch up before she sits the 11 plus. She's extremely bright, but has been working in German. Can anyone tell me which VR question types are set in Torbay? Thanks

Hi Russon

Katie is an absolute mine of information on the Torbay test, and I am sure that she will be along to help you before long.

If your daughter has been working in German, then the priority will be vocabulary. Ensure that she reads as much as possible and that it is fairly challenging material. Tell her that she must ask you every single time that she comes across a word that she doesn't understand.

You will find some useful word lists for the 11+ here (free download):

http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/revision_aid_download.php

Go through them and check both spelling and understanding.

Thanks so much for the link! Yes, I'm concerned about vocabulary as well as many other discrepancies in the Swiss/UK systems. We don't have long to catch up! Thanks for your help.
