Milla, thank you for the reassurance. All attention has moved to the redbridge exams now - which is in a strange way a relief. For some reason i am not as stressed out as i was for the Essex exam - probably because there is no English paper.
Also add the wolfbrother series to that list-boys love it. I agree with panichead: anything by Morpurgo. Horowitz also a good bet. Some of my reluctant readers are into Darren Shan.
