KEGS, Year 7 and Rugby

Quick question for anyone who might know. DS has come back from school today and says that he has Rugby trials on Monday AND Thursday after soon until 5pm. He thinks it is compulsory for the year 7 boys. Also, they are going in a coach to somewhere else and we might have to collect them there or at the school  - yep, crystal clear isn't it.

So if anyone else know better details on this then please can you let me know.

Thanks!!

Hi TP123,

The info I have received from another 11yr old!!! is as follows:

-After school rugby on Monday & Thursday to 4:50pm (certain)
-Attendance is not compulsory(certain)
-Venue- KEGS field... right next to the school (fairly sure)

The info above is likely to be accurate as my ds likes his rugby & he always retains appropriate info on the events he wants to participate in! He says he is fairly sure that the training is in the field next to the school but that on this point he is not certain.
He is cetain that the PE teacher said:
- rugby is compulsory for all boys during school games lessons but that after-school rugby attendance is by choice.

Games/matches are held at Bedford fields, up near the hospital - the boys go in a bus for games but you need to get them there for matches. Clubs after school are at school on the field.

Thank you both SO much. DS initially wanted to go as he felt it was a "good" thing to do. But he has never played Rugby before and has had a rethink this morning and feels he should wait until he has tried it a few times before going for trials. I was happy supporting him either way - but to be honest it makes it easier for me not to have to pick him up late on Monday.

Thanks for the information - first day of school and I was worried about how i would get accurate information (unlike primary school where i would just ask the teacher directly).

Off to do some "embroidary" on DS Rugby top and "just" ordered the mouthguard. So much to remember!! (for us I mean).

Lots of the boys have never played before - he shouldn't let that stop him. If they go to all/most of the sessions they get to play in one of the teams.
