Having read so many sad messages on here about children not getting their first choice(Grammar), which is bad enough but then finding out they are not offered their second or third choice of schools and in some cases none of their choices, is extremely terrible. What these children are left with is a very poor performing school!
Why can't applying for a Grammar school be on a separate application like the independant schools, this would give a much better chance of children getting a much better school if they have been unsuccessful in the 11 plus tests.

Hi

The changes coming in next year whereby childern will be able to take the11+ and then know the results will make a difference in this area - if they don't get in then they can apply to other schools on the same footong as everyone else. HOWEVER - it is apparent that there are more kids passing the 11 plus than places at the grammar schools so even if they pass, and fill in the CAF knowing the results they may not get in... particular problems for those at a distance or borderline passes dependent on the schools "oversubscription policy".
