preparing for the new format exam

Post by sleeplessinhalstead »

It's third time around for us with DD3 (sitting in 2016), but I'm finding it so hard to know what to do.

With DD1 and DD2 we had a tutor for 45 mins a week and supplemented with papers at home, focused on weak areas etc ourselves. This time we were planning to DIY, but it is proving very difficult to get DD3 to do the work and also hard to motivate ourselves and find enough time to spend with her.

I have just purchased the 2014 papers and see there were only 4 or 5 VR Q's at the end, so I'm wondering if it's worth spending much time on VR? I didn't look closely at the maths paper yet, but I didn't notice any NVR in it.

I find preparing for the maths and English so much harder than the VR, and don't know what to start with. Any suggestions on how to go about DIY this time? Or any recommendations for a tutor who has adapted to the new style exam including CEM?

thanks
