Re: Travel from Chelmsford to Colchester (CRGS)
I was going to remove my post, since I'd missed that the 525, even if run by First, is a Consortium bus, but perhaps I'll leave it in case someone finds it usefulMinesatea wrote:The DC's I know that are hoping to do the journey in the other direction (for sixth form), are all intending to use the train.
Public transport gives more flexability than the school contract buses, especially when the DC are older and more independent. DS1 who was at CRGS liked the ability to go into Colchester to shop, go to the library or (when Dr Jones nagged) get his hair cut, before coming home, which he could easily do travelling on public buses. I can understand though, that for year 7s the contract buses may seem an easier/ safer option.

Totally OP, sorry, but just loved the DJ haircutting comment. Has been known to march boys to TE to buy razors so wouldn't be suprised if he escorted them to the barber as well
If it is a 6th former doing the travelling then they may well want the flexibility of being able to travel at different times. Have had 3 through and they would be late leaving more often than finishing at end of school. Also if they live a distance away then socialising may take place immediately after school.
