what to start when DC is in year 4?

Post by pg19 »

Hello everyone,
I am a mum to my 8 year old son.he is in year 4.I keep reading the threads on 11 plus forum as there are few great ideas that i can use.
I am looking for few suggestions regarding what do i start with my son now at this stage.I do not want to over burden him and at the same time i want him to gradually attain a level where in he could find himself capable of giving 11 plus exams.
Your suggestions are absolutely vital.
Thanks
PG

I would start with some Bond Books aimed at his age.

Also lots of reading together, with focus on vocabulary and comprehension.

I recall moved giving me exactly the same advice when my son was 8 and in year 4. Now I am anxiously awaiting his results!
As moved said, you can't go wrong with the bond books particularly the maths.

It worked for mine - hope it's worked for you. I like the English too, a mix of comprehension and grammar.

We use the schofield and sims books, mental arithmatic, introduction to ... Series, plus they have grammar and comprehension books. They are cheaper than the bond books, and have a nice lot of variety. In year 4 suggest mixing it up, do a little of each every week and make it fun.....
