Travel from Chelmsford to Colchester County High School

Post by Flavia »

My DD will start at ColCHS this September. As far as I know, there are 2 bus companies taking pupils from Chelmsford (Stephensons, Route 676 and First Bus, Service 525).

As I don't have any experience with either of these companies, I would be grateful if I could find out what the difference is between the two. Also, would traveling by train be more favourable?

Many thanks for your help!

Flavia - I can't comment on the buses but would say that travel by train would be awkward at best. Leaving aside the fact that Greater Anglia struggles from time to time, the school is a fair way from Colchester train station and would not be walkable realistically. So a bus or taxi would be needed and then you're having to factor in either (a) travel connections or (b) additional cost.

The bus journey from the station to ColCHS is very slow, your DD would need to be getting into Colchester North by 8:00am. I think most Chelmsford children use the buses.
