Hi I am fairly new to all of this so apologies if this has already been asked. DD in Year 5 so will be taking 11plus this Sept. I just wondered how many places there are ooc at each school. Have both schools always had a catchment? It looks like the scores still have to be reasonably high to gain a place at Westcliff in particular. Are there more now applying because of the Chelmsford catchment? Just a bit confused about all of this and need some clarification! :)

WHSG and SHSG both have catchments areas based on postcode - SS0-SS9

WHSG reserves 39 places for OOC girls
SHSG reserves 35 places for OOC girls

However over the past few years (this year included) there has never been enough in catchment girls pass to fill all of the places so the number of spaces available for OOC is always higher than stated above.

Yes, the scores required for OOC children this year seem alot higher than in previous years and we think this is because of the new Chelmsford catchment area.

Thanks for that Minesata. We are in in catchment for Chelmsford but not sure that would be the right school for DD. It just seems to be getting more and more competitive each year! :(

If you are in catchment go for it. Don't worry about other things. If she gets the required score then why not apply? :?: :?: :?:
