Travel from Colchester to SHSG or SHSB

Does anyone travel from Colchester to SHSG or SHSB? Which buses/trains do you use?

Have you checked the CSSE web site - someone else posted that they have travel information.
Think you would need to train to Shenfield and change there for Southend line.
Do know some friends who looked into it a few years ago and decided it wasn't practical.
