Changes to rail tickets Autumn term 2014

Just had a look at the 'Green Rail Travel' site http://www.greenrailtravel.co.uk to see when tickets would be on sale for the next academic year and noticed this information:
Scholars Seasons - Autumn Term
We will shortly be releasing the fares for the new academic year. However, the options for purchasing a scholars ticket are changing. The new options will be:
1) One Academic Year
Running from 20th August - 31st July (or 31st May for those taking exams)
2) Termly Pass
Based on the price of a three month ticket. These tickets will be valid as follows:
Autumn Term: 20th August - 23rd December
Spring Term: 1st January - 31st March
Summer Term: 1st April - 31st July (or a half price ticket ending 31st May for those taking exams)
The price for each term will be exactly the same throughout the academic year.
3) Monthly Subscription Pass
A pass where you pay for the first month by Debit or Credit Card and the remaining months are taken by electronic Direct Debit. A ticket is posted to you each month.
The main difference for those of us purchasing 'annual' tickets is that the current season ticket is a normal 12 calendar months one, i.e. 1st September 2013 - 31st August 2014 or thereabouts. The new one will cover nearly two weeks in August that the old one already does and will not include most of the summer next year. I guess for those of you whose DC are travelling long distances to school and rarely or never socialise anywhere near school or intermediate stations, the change will mean little, but we are only a few stops from the school station - Southend East for SHSG for DS1 and DD - and they get very full use out of their season tickets at the moment...
And yes, they are available to encourage us to use rail to get our DC to school and back, but they are 'proper' season tickets with no restrictions on the days of the week etc on which they can be used, so I for one am very happy to do my bit for global warming and encourage them to use rail instead of Mum's internal combustion engine apparatus - and Mum's time - the rest of the time as well
