KEGS out of catchment aspirants - cut off?

Post by Booyachild »

My DS is aiming for KEGS and is Out of Catchment, his score is 370.878

Any idea of his chances of getting offer upfront or where he might be on waiting list?

Please be kind enough to post your DS score if KEGS is your first choice and you are Out of Catchment. Thanks.

Not sure that the small and skewed sample size on here will be of much use to you but the two threads at the top of this section should help (CSSE traffic light sheet and last year's collated cut offs)
A few people have also suggested that the post results school information sessions were helpful if you are 'boarderline'.

Hope it works out well.

The two threads are at the top of the Essex forum.

Csse guidance sheet entry to sept 2015

Collated Cut-Offs 2013 - Waiting List Info
http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/forum/ ... 15&t=36521" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

A score of 370.878 is borderline for KEGS out of catchment - it really depends on where higher scoring candidates choose as their preferences..If you like KEGS put it down on your CAF, but do look at alternatives.

The CSSE guidance sheet is very misleading. The orange section should read 'the lowest score to receive an offer at the school in the last 4 years' not 'the lowest score to receive an offer on March 1st.'

Kegs has never offered a place with 339 on March 1st.

Pre 2012 (before the 12.5 mile catchment) offers were in excess of 348 on March 1st and the waiting list use to move by up to 20 places from March-Sept.

2013 - 341 on March 1st, 339 offered off waiting list. The waiting list moved by 4 places.

2014 - 345 on March 1st, 344 offered off waiting list. The waiting list moved by approx 4 places.

So looking at the guidance sheet for out of catchment scores, in the last two years offers have probably been made on March 1st to all those scoring over 365, and for the 2013 or 2014 entry an out of catchment boy was offered a place with a score of 355.

Hope this helps. 370 looks good to me.

My DS has got 377 in CSSE test. How does his chances look to get in KEGS in the first round for out of catchment ?
