Hi,

I was thinking to post here the scores that our kids currently take for Bond Papers Book 1.
My DD is getting around 70% in Maths and 60% in English. I am not sure if this is fine for the moment.

We will move to book 2 soon and I feel like it is not enough...
Any advice? Thank you!

Which year is your DD in and which books are you referring to - 9/10 or 10/11?

We had finished Bond books by this time last year. So you might want to finish these quickly so that she can practise the papers during the holidays.

Have you already used all the ones from the CSSE itself?

With the maths is she consistently getting certain questions or techniques wrong? Or not reading the question properly? Or is her mental maths/times tables a bit slower which is holding her back from being quicker? If this is the case then by this stage I would be focusing on her weaker areas and working to time. I bought a pdf of 400 maths worksheets which covered 95% of the maths topics and printed out worksheets on her weaker areas to make mock tests. There were some questions (like the number card sum) that she had never come across before so we worked on those separately/

DD hated the Bond English comprehension and we abandoned it pretty early on in the process. We read together every night, much more challenging books than she had been reading at school and talked about what had happened, where things were going, the language the author was using and why, new vocabulary etc. I got some good comprehension tests from other selective schools (quite often they have them on their websites) and we used those instead of the Bond tests.

We also used the three or four CSSE papers from past years which we bought direct.

I can't remember exactly what scores she was getting at this point (but I do remember being both frustrated and worried) but she ended up with a score of 372 on the CSSE tests and starts at ColCHS in Sept.
