I bet the parents wouldn't even contemplate this commute for work so why send an 11 year old on it?
Actually, thousands of people commute forty-odd miles for work in London from our neck of the woods and a reasonable number commute the other way into Basildon and Southend. To be fair to c2c, it is generally very reliable, we have nice, clean, comfortable and frequent trains - less frequent on the 'loops', admittedly (but much better than the Southend Vic line; funny to think that their current rolling stock was considered upmarket back when we still had 'slam-doors'
) - and I have to say that my forty seven minutes into Fenchurch Street with the Times Mind Games
section for company was generally the best part of my day when I worked in London
