My point exactly, Toadmum. It could mean getting a place days before term starts, which has a whole different set of implications, particularly if you've resorted to going private due to the uncertainty, paid the deposit and first term's fees etc.
I think it would be helpful if they did another traffic light sheet based on allocations day It's all still guesstimate but really useful.
