Does anyone know how many children took the Essex 11+ this year and if it was significantly higher than other years. The Telegraph article that people have pointed out on this site states a 20% increase in some areas, but doesn't mention Essex.

Hi

Someone guessed about 5000 children sat the 11+ in Essex this year , only a guess. The CSSE office should have the accurate numbers provided for this year and the years before.

Hi, Noisyboysy

For curiosity sake, just rang up the CSSE office. A nice lady said that there were about 4000ish applications for the 11+ exam in Essex this year. She has not received the full figures yet.

However, she did say that the numbers of applicants for the Chelmsford grammar schools have been increased. Mostly due to the fact that there is a very good rail network from Liverpool Street station to attract more applicants from the London area.

Hi

My son is already studying in KEGS and loving it. As mentioned before, it's curiosity that made me call the CSSE.

Anyway, good luck and hope your child will get in the school that he/she wants.
