Please be aware that new guidelines have been issued (by me) for completing the on-line preferences form.

Rather than put your first preference first, you must fill them in in alphabetical order. This especially applies to the girls grammars, so make sure you fill them in:

1) Denmark Road High School for Girls
2) Pates
3) Ribston Hall
4) Stroud High

In fact, you could put your catchment comp in any position before number 4.

This advice is issued with no connection whatsoever to me wanting as few girls taking up a place at Stroud, or the consequence of my daughter moving up the ranking for Stroud...

Oh, go on. Just follow my advice. You know it makes sense (for someone).

:-)

Is this related to the advice issued by Stroud High that only girls with surnames beginning with C need apply, and that then these will be taken in alphabetical order of the next letter, CApers?

No. It's going by first name. Two years ago, they did it in reverse order, starting at Z. Probably won't get much beyond I this year.

If I were feeling cynical, Capers, which as you know I never do, I might suggest it would be just as equitable to allocate places in this way as by the 11+ as it stands in Gloucestershire.

I'm assuming Miss Capers' first name is Acacia? Has a certain ring, Acacia Capers. There's a book there somewhere, I'm sure.

Perhaps I should change the Subject to "Ficticious information relating to the Gloucestershire 11+" and make it a sticky.
