At HSFG there were 13 groups at "approx 20" per group according to the school, so approx 260. Not sure about others. Am interested to know though especially compared to previous years.

I understand that Pates was full this year but I don't know if this is usual?

Despite the rumours, I personally don't think Pate's was very busy at all. DD1 (y8) was helping and commented that there didn't seem to be as many kids as when she did it. Certainly the hall wasn't heaving when we collected DD2. Hard to judge, but I'm sure traffic/parking etc was worse around the school 2 years ago.

Can anyone do some quick sums and post a total at some point please?

Im not familiar with the number of grammer schools in the region, as Im not from the gloucester area (but ex wife and DS have settled there), and Ive always been curious to know how many have taken the tests this year and in past years, and for how many places.

Thanks to all those who support this forum, I live in Essex, but it has been a constant source of valuable information for me in all areas of the 11+ whilst preparing him for this years test.

I went to a grammer school years ago, and I am keeping my fingers crossed for DS who sat the test at STR (btw he told me there were abt 200 in there with him).

Thanks in advance

If there were only 600 at Pates I can't see why the website says there was a "significant increase" in applicants this year. I thought they normally had 800+ sitting it there.
