Crypt new starters - how you feeling?

My son has spent an hour this evening writing his introductory letter to Mr Standen, as requested in the new parent pack. I thought it was a lovely start to ask the boys to tell their new Head about themselves, as well as being a way to see how well they write etc. I left him to it and went out into the garden!!! How are other new starters feeling about Crypt and how are their DS feeling? Mine is going alone from his primary although he does have a few friends going from the neighbourhood. He is looking forward to it. I think he has his visit from head of year on Friday too. Any thoughts?

hi there
Having had our appeal hearing today I am feeling hopeful that DS will be having to write a lsimilar etter soon, although DH - being a proverbial Grumpy Old Man - is insisting that we should assume appeal will be rejected so that if it is upheld we will be even happier.

Men :o

Totally Gutted, I am hoping we will see you there soon. Please keep in touch, and maybe we can meet on uniform fitting day and you will win that appeal!

neveragain* my son has still to write his letter as there has been too much going on at his primary school recently but I'm hoping to sit him down quietly this weekend and get it done

totally_gutted I am keeping my fingers crossed for your DS. I know the feeling of the appeal process having gone through it a few years ago with my DD.

Hoping to see you both at the uniform fitting day :D

"totally_gutted" - Don't know if this may help - but STR had their appeals last week and I know of 3 boys who were going to Crypt are now going to Tommies = more places available for those who are appealing for Crypt? :D They also emailed appeal results on Sunday.
We are blessed/releived/excited/(broke!) to have twins who will be going to Crypt in September and they are really looking forward to the new opportunities/challenges facing them as they are now ready to leave Junior School. "neveragain" - Even though 7 of their friends will be joining them, they are looking forward to meeting new friends.
I would just like to wish those of you who are appealing the best of luck - our boys set their hearts on being offered a place at Crypt so I know how much you want their dreams to come true.

Wow! They must be thrilled and it certainly reflects what we saw as parents! May be it will stop some of the "snobbery " between Gloucester grammars now, we've had a few people ask why our obviously bright boy is not going to go to the better grammar ie tommies! It seems to me that they all good and all offer something different! We are so lucky to have such a choice of fabulous schools! We can't wait til September! Exciting journey for our youngest!

I have been trying to "sell" the idea that Crypt would a great school for for DS(YR5) as he is stuck on the idea of Tommies at the moment. Perhaps this news will help.

Out of interest dc17c - what is is that makes you want to sell it to your boy? Is it nearer or did you prefer it? We liked the arty feel, liked the music dept and the fact they do drama in key stage3. Amongst other things!
