Getting ready!

Hi everyone in Glos, hope all your DC are ready for this new phase in their lives?

My DD insists that she is not at all worried, but I've noticed that she can't settle to anything for long. She is constantly "on the go" tidying and retidying her new school clothes and equipment!

As we are mostly "girls" here, (sorry to the boys), I wanted to share with you that another "period" of her life began last week too! This was as hard for me as it was for her, as we were on holiday in Cyprus and were flying to Egypt the next day for a day-trip!

Well at least that's over and done with, before the new school!

All the best to your DC, fingers crossed for our little people xx

Well my DS doesn't even know where his uniform etc is!!!!
He is still blissfully playing outside all hours, with friends from primary school and whenever I mention the start of term its a casual-whatever-that greets me.At least he is not totally stressed by the prospect!
I suppose next week will bring with it its' stresses soon enough!

And on the other subject proud mum-I must say I am glad that boys don't have to go through that particular episode :) .Not very good timing though for you-at least that's another milestone over with!

Good luck to everybody for next week-parents and kids alike

Hi all

Back from our Summer break now and the nerves are starting to kick in for the first day of School (not with DS but cetainly with me!). DS likewise has no idea where his uniform is, what he will be taking tomorrow, how to do a tie....oh the list goes on and on!

I haven't seen him since first thing this morning, but he will be getting an early night tonight - promise!

One thing for sure, Mummy will be shedding a private tear or two as he heads off all grown up...that's after the obligatory photo shoot in the morning before it gets all messed up!

Good luck everybody for tomorrow or whenever your DC return :D

Burneth-welocme back-thought you had been quiet lately!
Just to let you know, they have school photos on Friday(on the website) so at least the blazers wont be all messed up by then.Is DS just going with a pen tomorrow??

We have been having a debate re the eating situation-compromise will be lunch from home and money for a snack at breaktime(otherwise I will be skint)-but I am hoping that a few days of queueing will put him off!

Looking forward to tomorrow now-uniform all ready upstairs :D

Hi GM....we had two loooooooooooong wet weeks in France....ask no questions and I will tell no lies

Yes, just sending the little man with his backpack with a pencil case containing pens/pencils - thinking he may come back with more than he leaves the house with...not sure whether it will be laptop/calculator delivery tomorrow? I think I will probably send a bottle of water with him too, just in case!

Starting as he means to go on and walking with some mates tomorrow - it will be hard to resist nipping round in the car and hiding by the school gate just to check he gets there on time   !!

Thanks for the info on the photos - will have to check out the webbie again, not looked since before my hols.

I know what you mean regarding the lunch situation....I think it will be packed lunch for my DS also, with some spare change for a snack should he fancy one - he did used to have toast at breaktime in primary so it's a hard habit to break!

I am soooo nervous for him...where's that gin bottle.....!!!

Just wondering for those who have a DD starting at Ribston on Thursday.....will you be sending them in with all the gym kit, swim stuff etc or just their school bag?

Such a big stage in their lives, just want it to go as smoothly as possible!

Good luck to everyone starting their new schools this week.

Hi SEM,

Thought I would send daughter with just bag. Can't think they would have games first day. I'm sure they will be sorting out lockers, time tables etc.
Hope you didn't have trouble geting some of the uniform as others did. DD looking forward to Thursday but I can tell she is apprehensive (so am I to think of it). She will be off on the school bus nice and early where she already knows some of the older girls.

Thanks guest87 for that, I just didn't want her to be the odd one out!

I had no trouble getting any of the uniform, but then I did order it at the very beginning of the holidays! The blazer took a few weeks to come so I'm glad I did order it early.

Hope all goes well for our DD's on Thursday :D

Hope the girls had a good day at Ribston today!!
How are we all finding they are managing the homework? DS has had 5 lots in 2 days,so has spent quite some time not letting it get out of hand-I have suggested perhaps he doesn't really want to be spending all weekend on it??!
Spent time getting the internet onto the laptop-as we are not wireless a trip to the local computer specialist was in order-how we got it to work goodness only knows but it does so all happy(my It skills are limited to say the least).
Also did the bus home tonight so that's another hurdle overcome,
Onwards and uipwards!
