I've heard of a child ranked 173 who has been offered a place for Stroud High. That's lower than last year, but I must point out that they had passed the exam so is suitable for a grammar place.

I wonder what the lowest ranking /quintile / position offered for each school is? Out of nosiness on my part, but it would be useful for calming the nerves of parents in following years in that interim between indicative results and allocation day.

Of course, even if you have not been offered the place, there is still a little bit of movement during reconsideration, and as one or two children turn down a grammar place for private.

Happy to post my DD scores... LEA confirmed that she scored total of 216 (220 for Pates) and qualified for a place at Ribston.

Hope this kickstarts the thread and helps future parents.

I would be interested to know the answer to this in regards Tommy's. DS2 sits next year. The Crypt gave the previous years succesful pass rate out when they gave the results of the test in November but Tommy's don't give any info.

Milla has suggested 222 even though their pass mark is 210.

222 would equate to a Pates of about 226 and 210 would be about 215 at a guess.

I don't understand how a Pates score becomes lower than a Tommy's score - if Pates can be assumed, largely, to have the greatest number of higher scorers then its scores should be higher shouldn't they? I was surprised, Tolstoy, by your DS1 scoring a lower Pates mark than it was translated into being for Tommy's. Although we never got our actual Tommy's score last year, those who did had higher scores for their Denmark Rd/Tommy's places (since the cohort generally scored that little bit lower) than their original Pates' score. Hope this makes sense.

Tommy's works out their standardisation on the group of boys that sit the tesr. Chances are that this is a pretty bright subsection of society and so standardised scores will probably be lower than if they were being set against the norm.

Pates work out their standardisation so that the 160th top scorer gets 240.

I initially thought the same as you Milla but a thread posted back when the results came out alerted me to the fact that Denmark Road's standardised score was going to be lower than Pates.

Have you heard anymore on what sort of passes got into Tommy's, am quite desperate to know for next year?
