Latymer
Did the headmaster say how far the waiting list went last year, at his talks last week? Also, was there any additional info about the change to the literacy tests, or anything else of interest?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Latymer
I think he said 29. Nothing on the new format of the English paper.

Yes, he said 29 in our session. I seem to remember him saying at last year's HT talk that it has gone down to the 50 mark. I suppose it depends on the choices people make each year. He also said the cut off for round 2 is around 500, so if you have 50 children all getting the same score, ranking =470, all 520 would go through. Nothing else of note mentioned.

Thanks,
That's useful info. Hope your DCs get through to round 2.

Re: Latymer
Did he say that the number would go over 500 in the case of a tie at your session?
I imagine that there must be 100+ tied on certain scores if the test was as easy as most children suggest. I'd have thought even with age standardisation the numbers tied would be huge. Don't they use distance on the first round then? He inplied at our session it was only 500 who went forward, but no-one raised the question of tied scores.

Re: Latymer
He didn't go into details, however I remember him saying it is around 500, not exactly 500. So I think all children who get the same score as candidate number 500 are invited to round two. He didn't mention anything about the distance.
Re: Latymer
That sounds the fairest way. I didn't realise they did that, but I guess it works for them. I do wonder what they would do if after child no. 497 the next tied score had 60 children(!)
Re: Latymer
Well I do hope they invite these 60 children. Another option is that they don't invite any and only 497 sit English and maths.....
Re: Latymer
...but that would be unfair for the 3, and if they knew could appeal. I imagine the whole group would sit the next round, but I wish I'd thought about it last week:)
