To those that are interested I have just heard from HCC and WGSB separately that for the 2008 intake the proportion that are selected will be reduced to 25% from 35% in order to comply with the new School Admissions Code.

WGSB and a number of other schools had been referred to the OSA for non-compliance by HCC. Presumably WGSB felt they didn't have much chance of persuading the OSA.

The extra 10% will not be added to the exisitng 10% proximity rule but will have the same effect given that once siblings and cross siblings are in it then goes on distance. That said apparently not all cross siblings got into WGSB got in fro the 2007 intake.

Oh no.

Why don't they put up a fight?

Not sure - you would need to speak to the Admissions Secretary at WGSB.

I had understood that they had taken legal advice and felt they had a good chance. Apparently the headmaster was with Claire Ward - Watford MP - today as well as number of other schoolmasters to review their approach.
