Secondary Schools Hert/Bucks

Post by helennash »

Hi, does anyone how/if you are able to apply for a secondary school in Hertfordshire AND Bucks? Reason I am thinking of doing this is we may move out to Bucks if my D is not successful in the Watford entrance exams for the local schools.

Yes but if your child is going into year 6 you need to register for the Bucks 11+ - deadline very soon.

Places are allocated on distance so you will have limited choice.

yes, thanks for response. We have registered for the 11 plus (out of area). I just wandered how you go about applying for school ie, would it be on the form you fill out for herts etc. would it be one of your four choices that you have to make for Herts etc.

yes all non independent senior schools you are considering have to go on the single CAF and submitted to your LEA

Make sure you put down GS that are likely to offer a place if qualification is achieved.

Check allocation profiles for previous years - generally Chesham Grammar or the Floyd.

That should be fine - put the schools in the order you want. If you are then unsuccessful for some these 'drop off' your list.

We are in Herts and we applied for HBS in the London borough of Barnet as one of our three choices in 2009 for elder dd and again in 2010 for younger dd. There are drop down boxes for other counties/boroughs. If you select Bucks all the schools will be listed and you can just select the one you want and add it. DG

thanks for your response. Do you know if you have to apply to the school as well or just put your choices on the one form.

You just use the CAF for all the schools - have you had an acknowledgement of your registration for 11+ testing?
