11 plus prep

Post by watford »

Dear All,

Sorry another question,

How do parents manage to fit in preparing for the 11 plus with working full time? I know tutors can help but in my experience you have to still be in tune with what they are doing.

Thank you.

It's hard. When DS was doing it, my job wasn't too demanding and we just about managed, but I knew that we couldn't go through that again, so we opted for a school with a sibling policy. It was the right decision too as my job became more demanding and this would have meant no time / energy for DD. (OH, on the other hand, just copes no matter how hard it gets at work; he just loses a bit more hair on top every year :) .)

Thanks for the response.

Can I ask what materials you used?

Bond mainly, First Aid in English and a few papers given to me by a friend. Can't remember which ones exactly. Oh, and OH did some Habs past papers (maths) with DS. They were hard, apparently.

Thank you for your input.

I think I did too much of bond books for maths right to the end and should have started on past papers from HBS etc i.e. perhaps a different style.

Anyone else had similar experience?
