Maths Word Problems
I'm having difficulty finding maths words problems that are challenging for my daughter in Y5. Books and past papers have some but I would like to get her practising more.
Any idea where I can get some more?
An example of the type of problems are:
A class of 30 went to a school trip. Some had hot dinners costing £5. Some had packed lunches costing £3 each.
The total value of lunches was £110. How many children had hot food and how many had packed lunches?
The wording is a little mixed up but my daughter was able to answer this with no problems. I'm looking for more of these and harder.

Habs Boys sample papers are similar to the old Latymer ones.

Just out of interest, how did your dd solve this? Algebra or trial and error?

Primary Maths Challenge questions, first and bonus rounds.
The 'Singapore' maths books such as My Pals Are Here have lots of word problems. You would want books 5 or 6 - there are text books which teach very good, non-algebraic, methods of solving them as well as having questions, or practice books and homework books which just have questions in.
