My son scored 239 in his academic test and his music score is 43 out of 45. But we do not live in the catchment at all....Will anyone know whether he has a chance, at least with his music scores?

How did the council advise last year that 25 points should be added to the scores? Did they send letters? Or Consortium put info on website?

They told us in the results email. May have been on the Consortium website, but I never checked beyond the email. Certainly no paper letters.

Check your choice schools' websites. But I'm under the impression that if you don't live in catchment where there is a catchment criterion then you have zero chance of getting in to an oversubscribed school.

For which schools?

Watford Grammar will not consider anyone for academic or music who isn't even in the outer catchment.

Parmiters academic places for "any other postcode" require a VERY high score. It also has 1 music place for any other postcode.

The academic score should get you into SCD as long as scores haven't gone back up to the level of 2 years ago.

Odd. I haven't received test results related e-mail so far, checked score on Consortium's website and that's it. Thank you for answering my question.

All the music tests are done at the Watford School of Music.

Last year the "add 25 to compare your score to last year" was on the websites of all the schools and on the consortium website.

I know of two students who got one of the three non catchment academic places at Parmiters.

I know of students in the 260s and also students with 45/45 for the music so you would need to be in that ball park to get the places.
