As to your query about QE or watford grammar.I think the decision has to be based on how good your boy is. If he himself wants to get 12A* at say GCSE, he will get that . When we spke to the head there were many boys, round about 30-40 who achieved this which puts it on par with some great independents.Another thing to remember is after school clubs . I know my son will be taking a active part as he is great at most sports. so for my son WGSB was the best option . I want him to hav a normal school life.They do really push the top kids in the class as well as we know one of the teachers there.
