Confused about schools/areas

You need to look carefully at catchments and which side of the Herts/Bucks border you are, as well as the admissions criteria. Too often people don't get the school they want because they have made unrealistic choices, so you need to be sure of the rules.
You are exceedingly unlikely to get into Challoner's unless you live in its catchment, though Chesham High usually has a few places left over for out of catchment.
I'm less sure about Watford Grammar and Parmiters except to say that neither are true grammars. They both take ~30% of their intake on an academic test like the 11+, ~10% on musical aptitude and the remainder are any ability, based on siblings and proximity etc.
Look at the Bucks and Herts county websites. The Challoner's and Chesham High ones don't tell you anything useful about admissions, but WG and Parmiters may.
