CAF/Waiting lists

Is anyone able to confirm my understanding of the grammar school application process in as much as, to have the right of appeal for a school place that school must have been named on the CAF but you can add your DC's name to a waiting list at any time after 1st March whether or not the school was named on the CAF. Is this correct?

That's exactly as I understand it, though I cant find anything on KCC's website, so it must be info from this forum.

That is how I understand the process, not just for grammar schools but for ALL schools for applicants under the Kent system.
