And I went to a private school which was (and is still) called a High School. I think it's American, too, isn't it. My American chum refers to all secondary schools as high schools.

We have just received the letter version of the "verdict", the wording on the letter is so much clearer, why could they not have used this wording on the email, then I wouldn't have had to bother you guys! Thank you for all your helpful replies, you made so much more sense than the education email writers.......

Yep Etienne - N Yorks most confusing with Skipton Girls High School being selective and Harrogate Grammar being non selective.
