NVR Timing issue

I'm very interested to know how those children who were given insufficient time in the NVR test have fared. Any news from any of the parents concerned?

My DD was one of them, she has scored 140 on VR but quite low on NVR which she was much stronger at. Overall she has passed but since we are OOC I am not sure if a score of 389 will get her a place anywhere. We would be in a much better position had she not had the timing issue in NVR :x

I'm glad to hear your dd still passed. I seem to remember there other children in her class who were affected - have you managed to find out if their NVR scores were low too? I also think you said that KCC were going to look at the scores of the children involved to see if they supported your claim that the invigilator got the timing wrong. Have you pressed them for a response on this? If they think there is evidence of a problem you might feel it's worth putting down the schools you are interested in and then appealing if your dd doesn't get a place?

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

No report/response from KCC. Will try to find the NVR scores of the other people in her class.

It is difficult to make comparisons between subjects. The 11+ does not test how good the pupil is at a particular subject, but how they compare with others in the same subject. So a child may, say on the basis of practice test scores, score higher on NVR than VR, but compared with other children rank lower in NVR than VR.

But obviously it does still seem the timing issue needs to be resolved, and to determine whether any allowances were made for it.

But, unless i've got muddled, if NVR was the strong subject, but the one where the timing went awry resulting in lower marks, AND if high scores were won in the other subjects, then that would seem a fine basis for complaint / appeal.

how do you know if the timing was wrong? No one has mentioned anything to me about this previously? Was it one group of children or all of them do you know?

It was a group who took the test at the Judd.
