Scores are a crucial factor in the allocation of school places in Kent. If you need to ask a question about your child's score, and "will it be good enough", you are most welcome to do so.

Otherwise we ask you to refrain from posting actual scores, because this could be considered to be "boasting", especially by others who have been less fortunate.

Thank you for your cooperation.

There are 20 governor places which are based on score, not distance. 18 were 420 last year, the other two were 418.

Sorry, 14 are governor places, same ratio I have been told.

What are the chances of a score of 423, but OOC wanting to get into Dartford Grammar?

Hi BFal, there is plenty of discussions about this on the "big" thread at the moment, have a look from around page 162 onwards: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=24246&start=1610

Basically, it is likely but not guaranteed. It all depends how many boys in catchment area apply (historically not enough to fill the 150 places) and how many OOC top scores apply.

See my post on page 164 for a breakdown on how it works.

We visited the open evening session at Dartford Girls on Tuesday and based on the statistics, it seemed more likely that they focus their recruitment on their set criteria which is:
1. Looked after children [those in care] - only one space last year depending on number of looked after.
2. Sibling [Third highest]
3. Within 1 mile radius [Second highest category]
4. Within the Dartford Parishes [Highest allocations made in this category]
5. Out of catchment area /out of borough [Lowest number of allocation].

So in this case, I believe that those within 1 mile and in the Dartford parishes are more likely to receive the highest allocations. Scores will also be an important factor as if numbers are high then scores will then be a determining factor in the number of allocations made within the set criteria.

Children outside Dartford parishes did not get into DGSG last year unless through appeal if any.
