Post by hdq2907 »

Hi,

How's everyone feeling? 2 weeks today until first day of testing for County Candidates!!! I'm still on a rollercoaster - think this is the joy of lots of things with first borns!! By number 4 I'll probably forget it's even test day!

I agree! Every child's experience is so different you feel like you're going through it for the first time!

Good luck to you all! :)

I went through it for the first time last year with my son, and have another one due to do it in 2011, and I feel much more pressure this time round even though it is still a year away yet.

It is a bit of an emotional rollercoaster and anxiety heightens when the results are due, and again when school allocations come through. I would say 'never again', only I have another child, so........

Good luck for all 'first-timers' and also those who are going through it again. :D

Its been a rollercoaster. Currently feeling a bit relaxed and in a what will be will be mood but who knows how I will be feeling tommorrow. We really arent doing much now as we had an intense three weeks at the beginning of the holidays. We are just going to do maybe a paper each now and that will be it.

I had a few panic attacks when we were doing the papers with scores tumbling badly at one point so I really dont think it will be a good idea to do too much now for us. I dont need another heart attack before the exam. DD has mentioned a few times about the 11+ but I am really trying to play it down and tell her its really nothing to worry about and not the end of the world. Infact I am really trying to avoid the topic all together now so hopefully it will be just like any test. I hope friends at school wont be too stressed because she said last term her friends were saying 11+ is a very important exams and harder than enything they had ever seen.

Sherry has summed my summer holidays up - 'a rollercoaster'! ie. some days all is fine, and and you think you have it all sussed, and then the next day the opposite. Fortunately, things are better this week, apart those annoying silly mistakes that DS keeps seems to be making! I'm hoping this because is is rushing so he can go and play with friends. DS definantly ssems more calm than me. A couple of weeks, and then it all be over. ...Until results day!

Have you seen how insane people go when they are waiting? I am going to have a self imposed ban from the forum in the run up to results. I have enough grey hair at the moment.

I am trying to be calm as DD has passed 2 mocks with a margin to spare and she *should* be fine and if she's not, then she would I am sure get through on appeal. I am stressing about 2nd DD and next year already :(

And the whole choosing schools thing.

I will be glad when it's over!

...a definite rollercoaster ride! :D

DD has been away this week at her Dad's so I'm not sure how much 11+ practice she will have done.

I think I will do one (possibly two) more papers for VR, NVR and Maths over the next week or so then I think we will just sit back and relax a bit before the exam. I think the point in time is near that if they don't know it now they never will!

I think am quite relaxed about it at the moment, but no doubt that will change again.

Not looking forward to sitting there at 4pm on results day refreshing the page to see if results are due in. Might have to invest in a box of red wine to see me through the evening!

My DD did not do a great deal over the holidays, she had a mock at the tutor on the first week, but we have missed most of her normal weekly classes cos of holidays. She had the 3 day revision course (3 hrs a day) this week so hopefully some sunk in, we have done a few maths & VR 10 minute tests with mixed results!

Not bothering with English at home!

AND she's booked to go to cub camp the weekend before the 11+!!!!
