TGS cut off scores

Post by Flybynight »

Hi, I thought I would start a new thread on this. A Friend OOC has not been offered a place with 412. Last year it was 407 so a big change!! I am hoping that she will get in on the waiting list. Does anyone know the cutoff scores both in and out of county? :?:

My DD is in catchment, scored 410 and has not been offered a place. Have left a message with TGS Admissions office to call me back with cut off information. Will let you know if I hear anything useful.

Hi, A friend has just spoken to TGS and apparently the In County score was 410 and the OOC score 414. Only 1 child with 410 was offered and she must be very close to the school as someone else living on Deakon Leys with 410 did not get in!!!!

Wow those scores are high!!!

I would have thought that once waiting lists come into play the scores will drop and that anyone in county with 410 is pretty safe.

Another friend seems to think that waiting list places are generally given in county first.

Good Luck everyone

I understand that there are about 15 people in county with a score of 410.

Wow that's an incredibly high number. Although I would have thought that all the 410s will be offered on the waiting list.

Good Luck happydays and all the others. Fortunately for me my DD is in.

Just found this on the TGS website and thought it was interesting;

In any year we will not know what the cut off will be until after the first round of offers have been made by Kent County Council on our behalf. We have historical data which may help you.

Year 1st round of offers 2nd round of offers Off the waiting list
2007 410/403 404/409 402/409
2008 405/407 401/406 400/406
2009 407/412 404/411 402/411
2010 405/407 401/407 401/407

First figure is in area/second figure is out of area

This implies that the mark does drop significantly with the waiting list.

No, in 2007 it seemed to go up for OOC candidates ....... how does that work?

I understand that that is because the number of puplis allocated to either OOC or in County is more or less fixed (eg OOC is 35 I believe); what changes is the score to get that particular kind of place; ie they dont transfer applicants from the other category. That year there was more pressure on in county place. But I agree that is not the norm, as there are more in county places to offer.
