Does anybody know what the chances are of getting in on a waiting list? I have filled out the form for a very popular grammar school which we put as first choice (got another grammar in maidstone offered) Trouble is all my childs mates going to other grammar..they got in! Not going to appeal but just wondered if anyone actually gets in via waiting list system. Thanks 4 any help u can offer me. :D

I know in this borough at least, the waiting list is kept in the same order as the oversubscription criteria listed. I guess at the waiting list stage this would mainly be on the grounds of distance, so if three offers are declined, the three nearest to the school by distance on the waiting list would be then offered those places instead.

The waiting list is new in Kent this year, so we wait(!) to see.
If your child has passed the eleven plus, you have every right to go on the waiting list, just return the appropriate form.

Certainly, the waiting list will top places up to the planned admission number, as places free up. The waiting list places children in order according to the school oversubscription criteria. In some areas, movement will be significant, in others there is little movement.

After appeals, if the number has risen over the planned admission limit, there will be no places offered from the waiting list until and only if the number falls below the planned admission limit again.
