Hi

Just checking as someone has said that the Exam papers for those sitting exam on 15th are exactly same as the ones children will do in school on 12 & 13 September? Surely this is not right?! Can anyone confirm?

Yes that is correct, hence why we should not talk about the test incase it gives late takers any unfair advantage.

Repeating my comment on thread before.
I am neurotic.
And I hate the fact that this exam is done on two different dates ( ie wed/thurs and then saturday) enabling information to be passed on by so many different forms particularly in todays world. But please could I ask that we don't.
Can we not say how many questions there are in the nvr paper. I know how many we think will be in each section but we have the uncertainty of think!
Can we not say what we found difficult or fine. Because it is easy to tell our children it might be easy or difficult but easier for those on Saturday if we tell them to tell their dcs that maths or nvr or vr hard - so they work their way through it knowing it has been perceived to be difficult.
And I know that what my dc finds difficult bears no relevance to others but PLEASE don't give others an advantage. I say this every year and cause great offence. I apologise. I am just a little obsessive about this!

Hi Nkm,

Please don't think for one moment that this seems flippant because it is not intended to be but having been through this once before with my ds and seen close friends go through it too ,very few children come out of the tests willing to tell you much about it. Even if you had a child who was able and willing to give you such info you would have to be pretty silly to pass on details that could put potentially put your own dc at a disadvantage. This year I know of 4 dc's taking the tests next weekend..I have already made my excuses ages ago as to why I would be uncontactable from 4pm Thursday until late Saturday afternoon...just in case dd has told me anything I don't want to have to lie !!!

Try not to worry...won't be long and it will be over and we can all breathe again :D

I really don't think there's anything to worry about with it being the same paper.

Because child A finds it easy or difficult, does not mean that it will be a similar for child B.

I don't think it's realistic to think the children will remember the specifics of the individual papers & questions to share/pass information on.

Thanks for responses. I agree that it shouldn't cause a problem but still feel that it is something that should be looked at and dealt with. With social and media platforms advancing so much, you could have the questions shared within a few hours of the exam finishing!
However I would add that any parent considering trying to ascertain contents of the exam should really be questioning themselves as to whether their child should be taking the exam in the first place!

This happens in Bucks too and I feel it is very unfair. We only have VR and while I didn't quiz my DS for fear of finding that he had got things wrong, a group of friends together were able to come up with most of the compound words from the papers which would have been a huge help to my DS if he had known them before as this was one of the types he struggled with. It is all very unfair, but at least you only have a few days in between. We had over a month ( and it will be the same this year).

Good luck to all the Kent takers this week.

When DS took the exam a couple of years ago I purposely asked no questions about the contents afterwards as I was much more nervous about the whole thing than he was! I knew I would only wind myself up about it. A friend's son came out of the maths saying he thought he might have got a couple wrong, my son said he thought it was quite difficult (DS passed, the other boy didn't), so really I think there is nothing to worry about. I'm sure people wouldn't pass this information on (particularly since the DCs are very unlikely to remember very much in any useful detail!).
