Hi everyone, My eldest son is severley disabled so his schooling has always been different (never filled in a scaff form before). Lots of people are talking about "The first round/ second round" etc... Im wondering exactly how it all works?
The offer we get on mar 1st ... Is that from the first round? Do we then wait to see if another offer comes through, or go straight for appeal if its not what we want? Im a little confused :? x

It works like this:

You fill the SCAF form out with your preferred schools, in order of preference (very important!)

Submit the SCAF from before the end of October

Between November - February, all of your school choices will be matched against your DC.

If the school is under subscribed and all other criteria are met (i.e. a pass if the school is selective) then your DC will be offered a place at that school.

If the school is over subscribed and all other criteria are met, then the school's published over subscription criteria will come into effect to determine if you will be offered a place at that school.

Once all responses are made, KCC will offer you a place based on your rank on the SCAF form.

So, if you school A offers you a place, you will get school A. If schools A and B do not offer you a place and school C does, you will get school C etc.

If none of the schools offer you a place, KCC will allocate a school to you.

This offer will be made on 1st March 2013

If you do not get your first choice school then you can at this point make your appeal.
