Help: haven't sent in supplementary form

One of the Kent schools we are applying in requires a supplementary form which "should also be completed and sent to the school by 31st Oct". The thing is I had a biopsy on 1st Nov and on 31st I was just too worried/scared to think of forms. This has been going on since Sept. In fact I started symptoms on the Kay of the test. I have submitted my CAF. Newstead is one of the schools on there as well. When I was filling the CAF it showed up on creen that I needed to send in the Supplementary form. The Kent school didn't so with every thing else going on I didn't check the website. I also haven't seen the school or picked up a prospectus (I had seen the school in the previous year). Yesterday, I had the biopsy under GA and was told not to drive. I was quite groggy to start off anyway and didn'thave anyone to take me to the school. I have letters from the hospital provng I went in on the 1st for the procedure. Do you think they wil let me give in the form late? DC has scored really well. As you can see have ben up all night worrying about this on top of everything else.

I would send it first class, with proof of posting, and with an explanation note. In truth, they probably will not be processing them over half term.

I suggest that, to put your mind at rest, you call the school today and explain the situation. I am sure that they will be understanding about it, and you can then do as pheasantchick suggests. As she says, I am quite sure they won't be processing the forms today anyway.

If you should get a rottweiler on the end of the phone, send your form directly to the Head with a letter of explanation.

Hi Wanting the best,
Pheasantchick and Sally-Anne are both right. Do as they suggest and I'm sure it won't be a problem as they are unlikely to be dealt with straight away. The administrators are human (I hope??) so they should be sympathetic to your situation.

Take care and I hope all goes well with you. x

Hi Wanting the best

I am confused. Newstead requires a SIF but that was due in July 2012 for Sept 2013 entry. The SIF had to be completed before the girls sat the Newstead exams on 28th September. I can't see anything on Newstead's website suggesting a SIF has to be completed by 31st October. Did your DD sit the exam? If so there is nothing else to do but just put them on your CAF.

I'm sure as everyone had suggested, once you explain everything it should be ok. It would have been slightly more problematic if the CAF had been delayed or you had missed out this school. Good luck.

Dippybaby, the OP meant, I think, that she hasn't sent in the SIF for a Kent school. She has done so for Newstead. The reason she got confused was that the CAF she filled only showed up Newstead as requiring a SIF and not the Kent school. This is why, with everything else, she didn't check if the other schools on her CAF needed a SIF.

Ah yes maybe I read the post incorrectly.

Apparently KCC will accept CAFs up until midnight this Monday (5th of November) due to the timing of half term. Therefore there should be no reason why a Kent school requiring a SIF won't do the same. Therefore I would deliver the form by hand on Monday to the school. I got this information from an email sent by our primary school headmaster. Hope that helps and eases your mind.

I`m working on this principal too. I had my letter from the reverend in my hand to deliver to the school on 31st, only to get to the school and find I was locked out.... so mine`s going in on Monday Morning first thing.

Hi there, I was also told over the telephone by Kcc Admissions that the forms deadline had been extended to the 5th nov ... To give those that were waiting for Kent test results a bit more time to view and decide on schools. You should be fine to hand it in on monday :D Wishing you the best of luck on your biopsy results ... Been thru that twice myself, Can fully understand your mind being taken over with worry. xx

Thank you all lovely people. What would I do without you all. I emailed the form to the school and rang on and off the whole day. At around 3:00 pm a message was put on the machine that messages would be picked up. I thought someone would have put that message on the machine. I decided to go myself. So got the form together with all the papers from the hospital (made a big packet, I must say!) and drove to the school. The gate was open but no one answered the bell to the front door. I decided to put it in the post box. Just as I was doing it, the caretaker came out. He said it would be ok as no one had been in this week and there were lots of forms in the postbox. So, I've come away feeling slightly better than I did last night. I will ring the school and speak to someone to put my mind completely at ease. Now, just have to wait for the results.
