Oh yes please ask her. And if it is GL Assessment can you ask her if it is a changed version of GL assessment or still the same old same old just mixed up in two papers, or just the same as it is now?

It is frustrating. When they award the contract it will go on kent business portal. Without knowing the contract title it will be hard to find it on there.

Not much longer to go - on Thursday 1 August we should presumably be able to find out from kent admissions who was awarded the contract on 31 July. Just hope they have time to put a good test together. On the current contract cycle the first version of the test would be compiled by this September ready for vetting and the standardisation process. And ks2 tests go through a 3 year development procedure.

If they don't change the test we know what to expect..

However if they do (e.g. to CEM), when do we think we will know the format (what sections e.g. maths, vr, nvr, something else etc.), length of each section, types of questions etc. etc.? Will KCC do a formal announcement so parents know what exams their DC's will be taking, and when will this announcement be made?

Thoughts anyone :?

I've just cut and pasted below from Patricia's sticky at the beginning of the Bucks forum. They are introducing the CEM test this year. From that sticky, I understand it can all change all the time, in order to make it 'untutorable' ...
:: Test Comprise elements of Verbal, Numerical and Non Verbal ability.

:: There will be two tests of approximately 45 minutes duration, taken on the same day.

:: Will be Multiple Choice format (ranging from 4 to 7 possible answers)

:: The test will incorporate knowledge covered by the end of year 5 (but the child must be able to apply that knowledge)

Verbal reasoning

Involves the manipulation of verbal representations and the solving of verbally presented problems. Orthographic, syntactic and semantic abilities, as well as logic and other problem solving skills are needed in verbal reasoning.

Verbal reasoning is Split into 3 main areas...

1] Comprehension tests the ability to make inferences as to meaning within and between phrases, sentences and paragraphs; to derive the ‘gist’ of the meaning from a text; understand the vocabulary, and extract accurate interpretations of the written language.

2]The ‘Cloze Test’ consists of several short passages of prose. It needs an overall understanding of the passage, but it requires closer attention to the grammatical and syntactic elements of written language than in the comprehension test. The candidate selects the most appropriate word from a choice of three at various points in the passage so as to make sense of the phrase and/or sentence.

3] Vocabulary Synonyms and Antonyms

Mathematical Sections:

Short mathematical questions will test ability in mental arithmetic and recognition of mathematical patterns (curriculum free as possible). A rigorous test of working memory skills with a speed element to this section. Not all the candidates will be expected to finish.

Longer mathematics problems explore numerical problem solving requiring more stages of processing with a greater verbal element involved than in the short maths questions. Some quick algebra questions have also appeared within the long maths section; usually a maximum of five questions.

Non-verbal reasoning

Eliminate cultural bias in intelligence testing and the possible bias against individuals who lack experience of a particular language or have difficulties with verbal elements.

My Regime ( a work in progress)

Although the test will contain verbal, non-verbal and numeracy the layout, the content and the time allowed within each of the disciplines will vary each year in order to make it “tutor proof

Yes, and kent will definitely remain multichoice. Children will not need to write letters, words or numbers.

I would think you will get the examples just before the next summer hols just like in bucks too.

I am not so sure as I used to be that it will turn out to be c e m. The delay in awarding the contract is very confusing.

Is kent conservative, ukip or hung since the may elections? Sorry very out of touch with my local politics!

Also meant to say the phrase about year 5 work is not very helpful. Not sure that the kent tender specification said this either.

Yes the year 5 reference isn't very helpful. All schools seem to apply/ teach the curriculum differently.

Not sure which part of Kent you're in but below is a table where you can look up your local electoral area results:
