Tunbridge Wells Grammar for Girls Admissions

Post by klmh1968 »

Good afternoon everyone

Does anyone know the reason, if there is one, why TWGGs favour areas west of Tunbridge Wells, ie, Sevenoaks and not East, ie, Goudhurst?

Many thanks

I believe that it is because Sevenoaks do not have their own grammar school and Goudhurst and surrounding area does ie Cranbrook (even though it doesn't start at 11!)

Well the Sevenoaks Grammar Campaign keep that quiet! Has anyone ever queried this with the governors? I basically live the same distance from the School as the girls in Sevenoaks yet we are out of catchment. We pay our council Tax to Tunbridge Wells so why can't the school change their criteria like TGS?

TWGGS only offers 10% of its places to girls out of catchment each year (that's 14 places). So anyone living out of the town who is not a younger sister (in fact anyone living in teh town more than about 1.8 miles away) will not get in on first allocation.
