Depends on where you live, how far you willing to travel and the admission criteria of the school.

I think you'll have to supply a bit more info before people can answer your question!

You are OOC, therefore 'Out Of County', but bordering Kent are the London Boroughs of Bexley and Bromley, and also the counties of Surrey and East Sussex..........so which OOC are you?

No-one knows where you live, or how far you want your son to travel, whether you want a Grammar school that accepts a 'pass' or a 'super selective', so if you can give some basic info, people can then give you advice.

Would love some guidance here to.

We got 413 and are on Bexley/Greenwich borders. Would love Dartford Grammar for Boys!

SupportiveFather - I think Hounslow to Kent every day would be a long commute for your DS, so I'm glad to hear you would relocate!

I've had one daughter go through Grammar school so haven't had to apply for boys' Grammars......so can only offer info available which you can find on the internet.

Have you actually visited any Kent Grammars? Have you or your son got a feel for any of them? Know the area you'd like to move to?

By using Google and the search facility on this site (top right it says 'search'), click on it for inputting relevant words such as 'super selective Kent' and 'cut off', you will find lots of information.

As far as I know there are 3 super-selectives in Kent...Dartford Grammar (in Dartford!), The Judd School (Tonbridge) and The Skinners' School (Royal Tunbridge Wells)......check them out online to see what their actual admission criteria are and whether your son has scored high enough.......a thread on this site says Dartford's cut off was 418 last year and that Judd and Skinners' cut off was 411 or 412 (can't remember now).

There may be a different cut off scores for next year...no-one will know until National Allocation Day next March! You have to decide if your son has scored high enough.

The others Grammars in Kent you will have to research by checking on every school website to check their admission policy. If places go on a 'pass', not highest score, you will have to find out the date at which you would have to have an address in the possible 'catchment' area or in a specific parish. That cut off date is probably soon....go on KCC website to what this date is, or ring them .

That's all I know....other Kent posters may be able to help more with relevant information, or to correct what I've said.......the rest of the research is up to you!

Hallo SupportiveFather

My understanding is that Dartford Grammar also has a small, inner catchment area where you just need to pass, and not necessarily with a very high score. (This certainly used to be the case.) If you are prepared to relocate, it might be worth checking their admissions policy.

ETA I have a DS in year 11 at DGS and can certainly recommend it!

It's just taken me one minute and I've checked the Dartford Grammar School website.....Open Evening is Thursday 24th October, 6.30 - 9pm...no appointment needed...just turn up.

Go along and visit the school and then you can ask if your son's score is high enough to think about you applying.
