Would really appreciate your opinions on this. We can't decide at the moment DGS or Wilmington?

My ds is very mathmatical and likes science and is weaker at reading and writing.
He liked both schools and as parents we can't decide. He should get into DGS on score although we are OOC at 1.3miles from school.

Would he get assistance at DGS if he fell behind in his weaker areas?
Does anyone have the options list for year 9 at Wilmington?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Well, I'd have thought "weaker areas" was all relative if he has passed the Kent test!

I have a son in Y10 at DGS and for him it's a wonderful school. But I can't really give you much help other than I do think the academic pastoral care is generally very good at DGS. Ds is the opposite of your son in that his strongest subjects are humanities and languages, and neither of these are taught in sets at the school. Maths is set from Y9 onwards.

You do need to be aware that every boy is expected to take two MFL to GCSE at DGS. That does seem to be the cause of some gloom amongst teenage boys. I would think hard about that if it is likely to make your son miserable. I am surprised to see that at WGS, boys don't even have to take one MFL to GCSE, although they are encouraged to.

Thanks for your responses. Much appreciated

Very tough to decide but will have to take the plunge and choose
Not sure I will feel like I chose correct but they are 2 good schools and we are fortunate to be in this position.

Thanks again
